for the first time, i saw someone breathe her last breath and no words can describe it. i loved her dearly and seeing that killed me inside but i didn’t cry then. but when my grandfather rolled in with his wheelchair, he started saying this in hakka: “you said you would wait for me. you said we would leave together. you said you’ll never go. but today, you lied. you broke my heart but i’ll never let you go.” he then started to sing her favourite song in cantonese.
that hit me hard. tears started flowing out and i couldn’t stop it at all. there are no brakes to crying, like there isn’t any to life either.
婆婆,安息。我爱你。
